LET THE PLANNING BEGIN...
Our center is already beginning to plan our School Age Summer Program. This is exciting because our center does enrichments for your child that other centers do not, or if they do, they charge you for them. We do not charge you except in rare cases of Jerzee’s lunch.
At our expense, we have hired a summer tutor for K – 5 students – once a week for 1 hour, 2 sessions – K-2 is first session and 3 – 5 is 2nd session. Pam, our tutor is returning from last year and we are blessed to have her. She is also starting a reading tutoring program for one hour after school next week, so we want to help our students stay sharp and focused on that reading!
We have been donated a used upright piano; the kids love it! We are looking for a teacher to teach in small groups. Again, this is on us, not you – the families.
While we do not do field trips on a bus, we have walking field trips:

- We walk to Pav’s once a week for ice cream – we buy it!
- We walk to the Interstate Theater once every other week for a matinee, popcorn, and a drink! Again, our expense, not yours.
- And every Thursday, our school kids eat lunch at Jerzees. They are always so well-behaved. Now, this year we are asking parents to donate $5.00 per child toward their meal. The children will be taught how to be responsible for the money and turn it in with the bill.
- Once a week, the school age children will prepare their own lunch – they may make tacos, sandwiches, or put together a casserole in the morning for lunch! They also will be baking something each week!
I cannot say enough great things about Ms.Rosie and her loving staff family at Once Upon a Daycare and Preschool! There is so much thought and planning that goes into the interest of the kids, from meal selection to daily/special activities. Ms. Rosie keeps her families informed providing chat articles, social media updates and not to forget the special family dinners throughout the year (yum) keeping families familiar and sharing time with our kids where, let’s face it, spend most of their waking hours. I’m so blessed that my husband found this special daycare/preschool a couple years ago, that is conveniently located off route 619, great rates and the hardest working and loving people I’ve ever met! The site is working on an expansion plan to include an indoor gym for safe winter play, which my 4 year old daughter is extremely excited for and gives me daily updates of what she learned about construction and planning! Once Upon a Daycare and Preschool is AMAZING!!! ~Tara U. |
